How it all started...
The Highcliffe Carnival was originally started by the Lumination Committee, who decided to involve the local community for the benefit of Highcliffe. Originally the children of the village received gifts from Father Christmas, with elderly residents of Greystones also benefiting with a Christmas party.
Highcliffe celebrated it's centenary in 1992 with a Christmas Carnival.
After a long break, it was decided to restart the Carnival as a charitable, fundraising event, and to use any money raised through a bucket collection on the day to support local charities and worthy causes.
Since that time, the Carnival has evolved and grown, providing not only much needed funds to the various charities and worthy causes that have benefited, but also given much pleasure to the participants and spectators alike.
The Carnival and everything associated with it, is organised by volunteers within the community of Highcliffe, Dorset.
